The firm

Derek M. Watson.

Financial & IT Consultants, LLC works with clients nationwide. The name is literal: finance work, the systems underneath it, and now the search that brings work in.

Who does the work

Derek M. Watson is the principal. You talk to the person who will build the forecast, the workbook, or the page. There is no bench of juniors and no weekly status theater.

He came up through finance that had to survive other people’s scrutiny: analyst work in a multi-division consumer-products group, then the capital-markets practice of a Big Four firm, advising middle-market companies on projections, financing, and workouts. He later ran FP&A and IT for a research institute — annual budget cycle, grant budget vs. actual, Access/SQL reporting for study directors — and has spent the years since as a fractional CFO and systems builder: cash-to-accrual conversions, close machines, and the seat that sits on top of them. This firm is that practice.

MBA, UCLA Anderson (Finance and Accounting). BA, Princeton.

How the three lines fit

The practice lives where owner-operated firms actually live: the close, the cash, and the Excel file that holds both. Fractional CFO work is the seat. Excel projects are the infrastructure. SEO/AIO applies the same preference for structure to how a firm gets found. Search engine work has been on the firm’s list for years; AI-overview visibility is the new part of that line.

Services stay under one LLC on purpose. A client should not have to guess which entity they hired. This firm is not mixed with any other practice in reporting, commentary, or workpapers.

What we will not invent

No borrowed case studies, no inflated headcount, no claim that every firm needs all three services. The cash-to-accrual overlay is published because the design is the point. Client names, employer names, contract values, and their customers stay in the workpapers.
